Eating well is one of the simplest and most important actions we can take to take care of our health. A proper diet not only helps prevent certain types of cancer, but can also support patients during treatments.
Among the healthiest dietary models in the world is the Mediterranean Diet, which places fruit, vegetables, whole grains, and extra virgin olive oil at its core. Fruits and vegetables, in particular, are essential because they help counter free radicals, substances that damage the cells of our body.
Apples are a perfect example of fruit to always carry with you: easy to find all year round, available in many varieties, and simple to store. But that’s not all: several studies have shown that their natural compounds have protective properties, capable of helping reduce the risk of cancer and supporting healthy cells during oncological treatments.
For Assomela, which has always promoted the consumption of apples as part of a healthy lifestyle, collaborating with Komen Italia was a natural step. Together, we want to stand alongside women in pink, young people, and tomorrow’s consumers, spreading an important message: prevention also starts with what we put on our plate every day.
The project takes shape thanks to the collaboration between Komen Italia, the Komen Center for Integrated Oncology Treatments, the Gemelli Foundation, and Assomela. At the heart of the initiatives developed for 2025, an informative booklet entitled “Eating Well” has been created.
Assomela also participates in awareness events of the national breast cancer prevention campaign, “Prevention is Our Masterpiece,” promoted by the Ministry of Culture and Komen, supporting it by providing apples during the regional stages of the Health Villages, scheduled throughout Italy in autumn 2025.
